!4th generation from David and Rachel Ferree Miskimins. Harvey H. Miskimins, farmer, Shellsburg, Iowa was born in Guernsey County Ohio 1 7May 1835. He came to this county in the fall of 1852. He married Ha rriet D. White who was born in Carroll County Ohio 10 Jan 1844. The y have seven children. Harvey enlisted in the 8th Iowa Fifth Infantry , Company D 14 Aug 1861. He was in several engagements including Pitt sburg landing and was wounded and taken to Tuscaloosa, AL. He was cap tured at Shiloh and was in prison 55 days until paroled. He was hel d at St. Louis until he was exchanged. He was at Jackson, MS during t he seige of Vicksburg and with Banks on his Red River Expediton. Fro m there he went to Memphis ad was at the battle of Tupelo agains Fore st. He was on of sixteen pioneer corps under A.J. Smith. Harvey was d ischarged 28 Sep 1864 and mustered out at Davenport. He is buried i n the Wadsworth Veterans Hospital National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS , Section 34, Row 15, Grave 17. About a month b
